West Coast Road Trip (May 2019)
In 2019, I had the opportunity to enjoy a 2-week road trip of the west, and I was glad I did. Savory solitude indeed.
I began just outside Seattle and took a few photos along the way…
Near North Bend, WA (where they shot Twin Peaks). Photos don’t do them justice.
Highway 221, southern WA. Not too many trees...
After a night in Boise (a surprisingly fun little party town), I was off to UT. I like that the speed limit is 80 MPH.
Having spent a large part of my youth in UT, I must say that I do miss the mountains. The drive south is quite nice too.
On to Vegas...
There's a little stretch of road between St George, UT and Las Vegas that spills though Arizona. It's quite a downhill drive.
I don't recommend being stupid like me and take photos from your car...:)
Just before Vegas, I ran into quite a rain storm. The wind almost knocked me into the side of the road. Fortunately, it only lasted about 20 min.
The calm before the storm…
Had a lot of fun in ole’ Sin City.
Spent a few days in LA…
Some of these might be from 2012, but thought I’d throw them in…
After LA, I went to visit my sister in San Diego for Cinco de Mayo…good times.
Off to San Francisco, the town I call my home. I miss it terribly, but rent is too ridiculous there. As soon as I arrived at my hotel (Ocean Beach), I caught a wonderfully apocalyptic sunset. I also noticed a crowd of people gathering around something...
...turns out it was a beached, 40-foot gray whale. Sad. Although, it was pretty astounding being so close to such a majestic creature. Click HERE for the CNN article.
I hadn’t been back to Bay Area since around 2011…so, I finally got to see the new Salesforce Tower that had forever changed the San Francisco skyline.
Bye, San Francisco. I miss you already.
If you haven't done so, I highly recommend the drive up along Highway 1 in Northern California, and further up north along the Oregon coast. It's a gorgeous drive.
Last stop: Portland. Always a good time there. And, alas, my awesome trip came to an end...
